Today is Barbie’s 59th birthday. Happy birthday, doll!
In honour of the ultimate #girlsboss, here’s a look back at some of our fave Barbie moments:
1.On Tuesday, Barbie introduced 17 new dolls based on real #bosswomen. What a way to celebrate International Women’s Day! 14 of them are from the “Shero” collection, all about real-life modern-day heroes, and the other 3 are from the “Inspiring Women” collection, showcasing icons like Frida Kahlo.
3.In 2009, Barbie was all over Italian Vogue, and it was everything. She’s living her fabulous European life.
4.While the first Barbie to explore outer space launched in 1965, I am living for the Mattel X NASA Barbie of 2013. She basically turned the red planet pink, and slayed while doing it.
Her spacesuit, helmet, pink space boots… I want it all so bad!
5.The Ashley Graham Barbie. Ashley isn’t just a gorgeous, funny, smart plus-size model. She’s also an avid activist for body positivity and a crusader for breaking barriers in high fashion. She’s changing the game, by being her outspoken self. Love you girl!
6.In 1995 Mattel created Baywatch Barbie, and she was all the hype.
7.Finally, Diamond Barbie makes our list because she is just so extra. She’s wearing a stunning dress and a full-length faux fur coat. Serving major Dynasty vibes.
Wait… let’s see a close-up of that dress. It’s so good!
We have a Barbie collection drop coming up soon, so stay tuned!
