V-Day has been celebrated for centuries. Me-Day however, much like Galentine’s Day, is still relatively new to the general public.

Many give Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation the credit of coining Galentine’s Day, but it’s actually just a product of the rising conscience of our population. There’s a reason why you’ve been seeing feminist slogans on t-shirts for the past 2 years. It’s because we, as a whole, are starting to accept and love ourselves more and more each day. Unlike the pop songs of the 90’s, we don’t rely on men to make us happy. We rely on us to make us happy… genius!

2018 is the year of strong women, and we’re living for it! The power of the girl squad is here in full force. The feeling of being surrounded by like-minded women that support you & help you grow is unlike anything else, it can’t be beat!

The old image of the quintessential V-Day fancy dinner date is stale, so we’ve come up with 5 fun ideas to celebrate Me-Day! Check it out:

1.Treat yourself

Invite your squad over and bake something together. Or, make a quick and easy treat like these V-Day Care Bears.

If you haven’t got a sweet tooth (can’t relate, sorry!), why don’t you treat yourself to that item you’ve been eyeing?

Or, you & your bestie could spoil yourselves with some matching tees. Shop these #twinning tees here & here.

2.Coffee date

Plan a date with your girls, and choose a café you’ve all been wanting to try.

If you’re in Montreal, this account is the best way to see all the new (and gorgeous) spots!

#ardenebabe @caro.levesque is pro at coffee-to-go dates.

Brunch isn’t just a meal, it’s a way of life. Find the best #foodie Instagram account in your city and do some research. For Montreal brunch spots, I always look to @ondejeune for help. Nothing seems to be quite as Instagrammable as eggs, bacon, pancakes, and endless coffee.

We did it up with the Ardene babes at a Galentine’s Brunch last year, and it was pretty sweet.

#ardenebabe @valielfrnce has the right idea.

I’m drooling over whatever #ardenebabe @styled_by_seven ordered.

4.Say it with a card

Print out these uber cute V-Day cards & pass them to your pals. It’s so rare to receive anything other than a text these days, your sure to melt hearts with one of these!

5.Movie marathon

We’re so used to Netflixin’ alone, tucked away in our rooms, and it’s not cool. We need to regroup, gather the squad, and have a cozy (snack-filled) movie marathon.

This could be a cute time to watch a cult-classic romantic comedy. These are my personal faves: Pretty Woman, The Princess Bride, Love Actually, 10 Things I Hate About You, and Say Anything.

Whether you’re planning something for Me-Day, V-Day, or Galentine’s Day, focus on doing something YOU love, and not just pleasing others.

How are you celebrating? Tell me in the comments, I wanna know!
