Taking a trip to New York is always a good idea. The city has an undeniable energy to it, and it’s totally contagious. There’s eye-candy all around, and tons of cool, innovative stuff to check out. AND its where the Girlboss Rally goes down.
If you’re not familiar with the event, it’s a two-day conference and an experiential promised land. It’s an inclusive and supportive space for the next generation of entrepreneurs. A place to build a sustainable future, and thrive together.
Last year, we watched the Girlboss Rally from afar, and experiencing it firsthand was on our bucket list. We made it happen this year! We booked a trip to create content, hit up some cool innovative boutiques, and attend the 2018 Girlboss Rally.
Whether you’re heading to New York for business, a squad vacation, or planning for next year’s Girlboss Rally, read our recap of what was a super inspiring and empowering trip!
First things first – brunch. If you’re going to take NYC by storm, you gotta give your body the fuel it needs, right? We went to Jack’s Wife Freda on Carmine Street and it was de-lish. How cute are their sugar packets? Had to take a couple home with me…
My #ootd: Kendall & Kylie red puffer jacket
knit plaid leggings (these are SO cozy!)
Vanessa’s #ootd: mock neck crop top
We were tourists for the day all over Tribeca, Chelsea, Soho & Nolita.
obvi an outfit change was involved… here are the deets:
Now let’s get to the good stuff!
The rally took place at the Knockdown Center in Brooklyn. The speakers were some of the most incredible & successful women in the world. There were activations, entrepreneur meet-ups & networking opportunities, a curated Girlboss shop, and – lest we forget – swag bags. Oh and vegan ice cream.
The queen herself @sophiaamoruso meeting fans!
There were so many amazing talks, but here are some of my favourite quotes from the day:
“Our ultimate goal is to end misogyny. Women had been so used to waiting for the man to make the first move, in real life and with texts… for the first time, we put women in the driver’s seat. This had an incredible ripple effect for female empowerment.” – Alexandra Williamson, Chief Brand Officer at Bumble
“Everyone told me no, they said it loud and clear. Every manufacturer said nope, a rounded sponge is impossible. When you have an amazing idea that you believe is brilliant, you have to push through all the No’s and be persistent. I’m basically a sponge scientist now.” – Rea Ann Silva, Founder and CEO at Beautyblender
“Progress takes a really long time… it’s progress, patience and small steps every day that get you where you want to be.” – Leila Janah, Founder and CEO at SamaSource
It was an amazing experience, and we came home feeling inspired and energized. It’s time to turn our inspirations into ideas… big things are coming in 2019. Stay tuned ✨
