The 4 Best Cafés for Shooting Content in Mtl’s Old Port

It’s International Coffee Day, woo! Here at Ardene HQ, we get real hyped about coffee AND coffee shops. After all.. they are our free studios for shooting content.

Not everyone is blessed with a beautifully lit bedroom or living room. And we don’t all have access to a studio. If you’re looking to create content – for work, your portfolio, or just for fun – it’s important you use public spaces to your advantage. A café can be a stunning location for your next photoshoot!

Shooting in a cafe is a simple way to create beautiful, versatile, and relatable content. Coffee shop culture means taking a pause – a time where you relaxed, took some time for yourself and lived in the moment.

We rounded up the 4 best cafés to shoot at in Montreal’s Old Port.

1.LE PETIT DEP

179 Saint-Paul St W.

This place is in the thick of it! It’s in the crazy touristic streets of the Old Port. It’s such a little gem. Shooting outside of it is ideal, the amazing electric seafoam green color is just so good, but you can probably get a cute shot inside too.

What’s there: cute Mtl souvenirs, delicious coffee, homemade pastries, and a groovy atmosphere.

Lauren is wearing: black basic super soft bodysuit

cuffed plaid pants

teddy jacket

black newsboy cap, quilted crossbody bag, chunky white sneakers

2.TOMMY

200 Notre-Dame St W.

You’ll want to shoot on the epic Tommy stairs, lined with orange leather seats. Inside is cute too, but it gets jammed so if you wanna get those pics – get there early!

What’s there: historical architecture, beautiful decor, good breakfast & sandwiches, and a great place to get work done on your laptop!

Our gal pal & Montreal fashion blogger @aidasflaws is wearing: Glen plaid crop pants

white cropped crew neck sweater

hooded denim jacket

chunky combat boots

clutch crossbody bag

cotton military cap

3.LOV

464 McGill St

LOV is right next to Square Victoria metro. It’s actually vegan heaven, with dishes like kale mac n’ cheeses and sweet potato gnocchi. Yes please.

What’s there: vegan and vegetarian brunch, lunch & dinner, and a cool atmosphere.

4.MAMAN

1524 Notre-Dame St W

Maman started out in 2014 in Soho, NY. Since then it’s opened more locations in New York, one in Toronto, and now one in Montreal! They are famous for their delicious baked goods. It’s such a cozy, dreamy spot. Trust me, you’ll never want to leave…

What’s there: avocado everything, beautiful vintage dishes, rustic vibes, plants, and the best cookies I’ve ever had (OPRAH agrees!)

We hope this helps you when you’re thinking of where to shoot your next #ootd or flat lay!
