Barbie turns 60 today! Yas queen!
Since her debut in 1959 as a glamour girl in a black & white swimsuit and heels, Barbie has shown the world that she can do anything and be anything. She’s been a pilot, astronaut, director, firefighter, doctor, and so much more. Oh, and she’s been the president. nbd.
At some point or another, we’ve all hung out with Barbie and been inspired by her magic. Here are 10 facts I loved discovering about her –

2.There have been tons of celebrity Barbie dolls – Zendaya, Gigi Hadid, Nicki Minaj, Audrey Hepburn, Katy Perry, and J-Lo, just to name a few!
3.Her signature colour, like ours, is pink. In case you didn’t already know. It’s Pantone colour PMS 219.
4.The first Barbie doll was sold for $3.00
5.She traveled to space in 1965, four years before a man walked on the moon.
6.Barbie has been a muse to many famous creators – from Andy Warhol to Jeremy Scott.
7.Barbie’s dreamhouse (raise your hand if you still have yours 🙌🏼) is sold every 2 minutes! and it was introduced in 1962.
8.In the 1980’s, Barbie had her first designer collaboration with Oscar de la Renta.
9.In 1997 Aqua’s hit song ‘Barbie Girl’ came out and became an overnight hit.
10.In 2015, Mattel discontinued SeaWorld Barbie because of the company’s questionable practices that they learned from PETA. Barbie has always been animal-friendly and fur-free!
